Divine Regret Before the Flood 0:00
בתחלה אמר וירא השם כי רבה רעת האדם וגו' וינחם וגו'. First, before the flood, it says God saw how bad man was, and He regretted making man.
כמו שמבואר במאמר, שזהו מבחינת המדות דתיקון, the fact that you can have both מדות for the same thing is for because it's in תיקון, שהם בבחינת מורכבים, which are complex. דהיינו בהתפשטות הדבר, that you're dealing not with a theory. In theory, you can you can have pure things, but when it comes out בפועל, you can never have something pure. Everything has can it has a benefit and detriment in it.
Everything has a a something that you could see it as being good and something you can see it as being bad. There's no physical thing that's going to be completely pleasurable or completely painful. So therefore, once you're talking about something that's in the התפשטות, in the physical world, so there everything and comes, and that's why it's like like the way the soul comes into the body, that there the the body has separates each, and you see how it has all the different powers of the soul all in one place.
That you have the seeing and hearing and all these things, and they're all connected together in one body. And that's the way that any physical thing, like, has all the different ספירות and מדות all in one, they all get put into the one thing in different proportions. דהיינו בהתפשטות הדבר שלא ימצא רק עצמו לבד, על כן יכול להיות התכללות דבר והפוכו וכולי. Therefore, you can have the opposite two opposite things, because you're it's not In theory, light and darkness are opposite things, for example, or sweet and bitterness.
Opposite Qualities Exist Together in Reality 1:38
So in theory, they're complete opposite, you cannot have the one totally contradicts the other. בפועל, though, you can never have find something that's not a mixture of both.
You can never have There's no such thing of pure light that's that's like only bright without you could always make it brighter, which means that there's a little darkness there.
דהיינו בחינת נקודה דתהו, the the עצם המדות so the נקודות דתהו, דגם כשנעשה בהתחלקות ל-י' אין זה רק ספירה. So in תהו, the עצם of תהו is עקודים, is a נקודה, it's one נקודה, it's just that you have a one this thing. Even in תהו, when it divides up into a ספירה, and it has 10 ספירות, they're also נקודות. And so it's not התכללות really. In other words, in in תהו, the גבורה is really really all חסד.
It's all it's it's not it's all one ספירה, meaning that like חסד takes גבורה and makes it also a חסד. Like, we's like the guys that lean towards חסד, if they'll you'll tell them, "Well, this guy is so bad, look at all these he did all these bad things," so then they'll say, "Oh, so that's even more of a reason that that we should be nice to him.
Look how, poor person, like they people say, is victim and everything." So they turn the anything into a חסד. Because it's a ספירה, that's like a thing that a guy that בעצם believes a certain way or wants something a certain way, so if it's מצד their אמונה or מצד their רצון, whatever it is, if it's like מצד, so then you could have a person that will come if a person that will בכוונה talk to you, it's like עקודים, of תהו, עקודים.
A guy that will that that's already willing to go out and talk and stuff like that, like to missionize, but it's still really only one ספירה. They're not really considering the the other side at all.
I mean, this is what happens a lot of You can see the סימן for this, that a person that's in like a way of תהו, which means that they're they're trying to make their whole פרצוף of one ספירה.
But that's not really the real עצם. The real עצם is כולל all 10. And so they should be able to have all 10 together.
And a person that can't get to that is you see that there's like a very big like שטארקייט that that they they they have like a fierce opposition to the other to the opposite, because they feel like it it threatens it. It threatens their them, their ענין.
Right, תיקון requires a deeper look of, like we're in the next פרק we're going to explain about like the middle קו, how it's able to connect opposites. That's the ענין that like If you have two opposite opinions, so one guy views says one side, the חסד side, and he cannot, totally, vehemently opposes the גבורה side. And the גבורה guy has the גבורה view, and he vehemently opposes the חסד view, and they like see the other side as being completely evil and wrong and subversive and everything.
Then, but a person that That that's like a thing, the ענין of a בר דעת or so, is that you you that this is the the way the פריערדיקער רבי describes in a מאמר, is that it מיינט the ענין of דעת, that he takes these two, wait, these two people, there's two opposite views.
And he says, "I'm going to explain to you, both of you, what your opinion is, what your your view is better than you understand it." And he shows them the real depth and like peels off and shows that you don't really want He may shows that you don't really want like a particular instance of חסד.
Your real רצון, he explains to them what the real עצם רצון of חסד is, how it's detached from a a particular like where before it becomes associated with a certain מעשה or something like that, whatever level you're talking about. He brings it up a step. And the the deeper you bring it, so when you bring it up a step, then you say you realize, so what's the real the real, why do you really want חסד?
What's the real, so so let's think. Why why does a person really want? What's the theory behind חסד? He said, "Every person has in them a little bit of good, and you want to like the reason why you'd want to be lean lean towards towards letting the person off is because you appreciate that that there's that good in the person and you want to bring it out so that it will be expressed."
I mean, that's the main נקודה. And then also for everybody in sight and everything, it will it will be brought out to help himself and other people.
What's the thing of גבורה? Is that you say, "Yeah, but the external actions have to It doesn't matter what's inside, that he meant meant means well or he has potential. If it doesn't come out into מעשה that he's that that the external things that he's doing and expresses that, so then it's worthless." So then he says, "Well, really you both want the same thing. You both want that the inner good should come out and be expressed externally.
That's really what you both want. So now we have to decide, though, what's the best way to get there. What is the best way to get this person to bring out his inner good? Is it by being by by telling him about how he's really good, and do we really love him, and we appreciate his value as a person, or is it by telling him that we expect more, and we want him Which which which side should we focus on?
Should we be strict and tell him that he's not doing good enough, we expect more of him, and or should we tell him that we appreciate his potential? Depends on the what type of person you're talking to. Depends on the טבע of the person. So, therefore, you're willing to do whatever it is because you realize that for your real goal, it doesn't really matter which which which one you do, it matters whatever which one works.
That's the thing of like מעשי תהו, that the מעשים are So in order to go get the מידות of תהו to go into תיקון really, you can have a תיקון that comes after a מידה of תהו, which is like a רשות הרבים type of thing, that kind of like in America, that that everybody really has their רצון and their opposites, but but we just make sure that people don't go don't like go around killing people that have opposite views of them.
And so everybody goes out around and they they're able to relate in things that do not relate to their עצם רצון. But a real תיקון means that you're that that you're able to actually have two people sit down and work together.
And that in order to do that, you have to find their their their how they're real and they have really a deeper goal, a common goal that transcends both of their particular things. And that's a real this a real תיקון. Yeah, so this so but
so in תהו, even when it comes out, it only becomes like a ספירה, not a פרצוף, אדם. It's not It's not a person. It's you're talking to a wall still. שהוא the ענין of a person שהוא בחינת התכללות מכל הפכים וכולי. The ענין of a person, in other words, like that's the thing that you see a lot of times, and and this is like relating to like a lot of times by בעלי תשובהs, if they're if it's not if if they're not given a proper instruction, it's very easy for them to end up not being a person, because when when they're The whole thing of their approach to religion is a thing of אמונה, and they feel this big this this passionate drive for altruism, and if a person connects that to one like just one aspect of the truth, or whatever it is, then the you the person will become very strong, forcefully attached to that, and and you'll see that they're not they're not going to be human.
They're not going to be able to sit down and talk to them, and they're not going to be able They're going to have a very strong like fierce opposition to any Yeah, they're on a holy mission, and it's like very and and you What do you If you try to talk to them, they're not there. As soon as you say say something that's not doesn't that's not what they want to hear, then they get angry and they start trying to put you down and and and even in to insult you because they want to invalidate their point is they want to invalidate your opinion.
They don't care whether they do it by invalidating you or the actual thing. It doesn't cuz it's not, it's just a thing of that that they already know that this is bad, and so it doesn't matter how you get get it away from you. It's not it's not an issue of considering what the person's saying or something.
So, it's, yeah, so that's it's not a really a healthy thing, it's not very comfortable to be around. But so that's not a person. The ענין of a person means that you see a deeper רצון, and you see how all of these רצונות, you're able to see how I can see the other person's point of view. I maybe think that practically, מצד a רצון מורכב, this is better, but I can understand where there's what that there and I also have a רצון for that.
And that's like a thing also like the בעל שם טוב's ווארט that you have that if you see a bad in somebody else, you really have it in yourself.
Really anything that that you see in somebody else, you have in yourself in some way. Any רצון is is really that every person really has all these רצונות. So, for example, a lot of times like there's fights because people walk onto two different רצונות that are בעצם things, but they really בפנימיות they want the same thing. So, for example, like like there's a thing of of אמונה, and like the whole thing of make a דירה בתחתונים.
So, you that means when when you make a דירה בתחתונים, that means that you want to take the truth and the full truth of אידישקייט and everything, and you want to bring it down into the world, in the תחתונים. So, a person could lock onto one of those two sides and say, well, if we're going to bring it, if it's going to be a דירה בתחתונים, that means you can't dilute the truth.
And on the other hand, it has to be the other person can lock on the fact that it has to be in תחתונים. So, this is this is kind of like a like a a one person that's in like the אורות of תוהו and the כלים of תוהו, one person's in the אורות of תיקון and the כלים of תיקון.
In other words, a person lets go of the the the the real goal just to compromise, or a person that that is isn't compromising their goal, but they're not ever going to accomplish it because they're not willing to compromise how they're going to do it.
That happens a lot of times, just things like that. You know, because some people are being very altruistic, but not practical, and some people are going to be practical, but then and the real thing is you have to you have to realize that your your goal is to bring it out, and so you have to do both.
