Movement as Evidence of Life 0:05

ורואים דמה שנולד רצון בגלוי דאין ההפך זה רק כמו בחינת התגלות מראה לעצם, כהתגלות התנועה בעצם החי, like the movement that shows that something's alive. But the movement is not the actual life.

It's not like if you take something and make it move that it's alive, not at all. But though if something's alive, it's going to move.

וכגילוי החיות בדבר נבדל שהוא הגוף, like the way that the no no, the גילוי החיות means the consciousness. That the the physical consciousness of things reveals the like that's how do you know that there's that a person has like a conscious soul? Cuz you see that their eyes follow you if you move in front of them. So the fact their eyes are responding physically to a stimulus of sight, that's or like like how do they know a baby if a baby's blind or deaf?

The way that you know is if like you clap next to its ear and it doesn't respond at all, it doesn't move. Or if if water is poured over the eye, its eye, it doesn't shut it, or anything like that. Or you move like it doesn't flinch if something is like waved in front of its face. So you see from the physical responses, you know whether it has a spiritual consciousness or not of those things.

שמפני שהוא חי בעצם, since the soul is essentially alive, נגלה חיותו בתנועה, it reveals the fact that it's alive in moving by moving the body. וכן מפני שהוא דבר חי בעצם מחיה גם הגוף, and since the soul essentially has a consciousness, it's able it's also has perception, physical perception when it's in the body, הדומה שנקר חי בשר וכולי, which is called physical life. כי גילוי רצון זה בא בדבר נבדל.

Essential Soul vs. Manifested Desire 1:51

So this is the same thing like the person that the essential connection that since the soul is alive so it will have these abilities is is from the essence, that the soul essentially possesses the ability to move things, be conscious of things, and control, control things, be conscious of things.

But if it's going to be revealed in the body or not is not the essential. That that is only revealing, but it's not essentially connected. It's a symptom, but it's not the actual essence.

Just like the רצון that comes out is הוא בא מכוח עצם המידה לבד, it only it comes from עצם המידה, but it's not actually עצם המידה. ומובן ממילא דלהיות שיש כמה אופנים ודברים שיוליד רצון מיוחד לכל אחד ממקור אחד, that שהוא

תלוי בעצם המידה תמיד וכולי. And so it's understood that in many different רצונות and each will come out, each one will have its own רצון, but they're all coming from one מקור. In other words, a person that is essentially nice will want many different things because of that to express that essential מידה. And it will come out in different ways according to the situation. And sometimes it can come come out in a way which which normally would would you would associate with גבורה, like a surgeon.

וגם שכל המטה תמיד כלפי רצון וחסד, היינו רק מצד עצם מידת החסד שמוליד תמיד רצון ושכל לחסד דווקא. But yet the the the fact that a person is always biased towards חסד is because they have an essential kind nature that is all that is constantly So this is a sign. The fact that they're always having a particular רצונות for חסד shows that they have an essential מידה of חסד.

ויש כמה עניינים נבדלים, and but there are many different things that this will be expressed, וכל אחד מוליד רצון ושכל בפני עצמו וכולי, and this essential מידה will create a individual רצון for each scenario. So ודע. So this is the idea of, in other words, that what א״ק does is it makes the connection between the essential מידות, which are the עיגולים of א״ק, and the particular רצונות, which are the עיגולים of אצילות, the רצונות of אצילות.

Connection between Essential Traits and Particular Desires 3:42

So the רצונות of אצילות are not the essential רצון, like the רצון to like cut somebody. So that is a particular רצון. That is not does not reveal, you don't know though whether that is a רצון of חסד or דין, unless you see how it's associated. The association of what this will accomplish is made in א״ק, that a person gets a world view of what and a they make a a self-image and a world view, and basically what that they they created is an association of how what things will accomplish, to understand what will accomplish what, so that they know that if that in this and this situation my essential desire for חסד will be expressed like this, and my desire for גבורה will be expressed like that.

And so then they know that if they have this desire, they'll express it in this situation like that. So the connection between those two is made in א״ק.

Same thing like like on a physical level, the soul's desire to be able to express itself freely in the body becomes associated with the desire to eat and drink and all these things, because of the body's makeup.

So that gives it, once it's enclothed in the body, it that that those inner desires become associated with other desires. And then on the same way the next step down, the desire for to get rid of the pain in the stomach when a person's hungry becomes a desire to eat. Why? Because you learn to associate that eating takes away that pain and gives you strength and whatever.

And so if you feel weak or you feel hungry, right away that will create a desire for food. But the it's not really the essential desire, it's a created thing. And but then, once they're associated, that one reveals the other.

Difference Between Revealed and Essential Desire 5:50

And that's the the idea of the גילוי ההעלם. So from this we understand there's a big difference between the רצון that's born out as a גילוי from the עצם רצון and the עצם רצון. Because the רצון that comes out is detached from your essence, you don't really want that.

But the essential רצון you really want. And so like a guy that is,

right, so like a guy is hungry, so he so he says, okay, I want to go, he has a whole plan, he's going to go get pizza, and he's going to drive, he wants to get in his car, he's going to get his shoes on, everything like that, and a guy walks in the room with with and he says, look, I brought pizza. So then he's he then he said that he starts taking his shoes back off.

And he said, well, I thought, the other guy said, I thought you were going to go, you wanted to go drive to the store and everything. He said, no, no, I never wanted it at all.

That's the ענין that the world is created יש מאין, that means that that the external things of the world is not really what God wants at all. So it's not like just like you wouldn't have to do something to get him not to want to go drive down the block, he never really wanted it in the first place. The only reason he wanted it was because it was connected to something that he did want.

But if that connection would be taken away, then their desire for it would immediately vanish. It's not like you have to do something, because it never has its own מציאות really.

Purpose of Da'avnen: Aligning Animal Soul 7:28

Right, and that itself is the point of דאווענען is to first to take your נפש הבהמית and show it that what it really wants requires that it connect to God. That's really what it wants, if it goes back through to find what its essential desire is. Most people though, they're not conscious of the they don't they're not conscious of these this thing. And so if you ask a person what they want, that's the problem, they associate a certain form with what they want, and then they become stuck in that.

And then if that doesn't work out the way they wanted, then they're disappointed. But they don't they forget that's not really what they wanted.

So, I mean, and the the reason why that can happen is because really a person could could choose to want whatever they want. They could decide to make something that's normally a פרט their essential goal. It's not their inner essence, they really could they have בחירה. Once they create, but then with with once there's like a they have a כוונה, then they make like a hierarchy of their inner רצון and of their external רצון and everything.

Yeah, well, that's the thing. You always you have to do both with people, with anytime when people have these kind of problems, there's there's the two sides. There's like the נעשה side and the נשמע side. So מצד like starting from scratch and having people refine their view of what they want and things like that, is like an אתהפכא thing. That that will actually change their desire once they change the way they that's the ענין of this is the real ענין of מוח שליט על הלב, means that when you change the way that you look at things, it will automatically change the way you feel about it.

Mind Over Heart: Changing Associations 8:54

If you change the way you what you associate it with, that will change how you feel about it automatically. Because your your feeling is a born רצון that comes out from your essential רצון through your שכל, which is what creates these associations.

So if you change that, automatically it does that does like an אתהפכא. But until a person can do that, they they have to first start with אתכפיא, and there's also a מעלה in and

and this is like the ענין of פדה בשלום מקרב לי, that a person has should realize that if the whole thing was that a person should should realize the truth and be inspired and be like a צדיק, so then השם could have made us צדיקים. But השם also wants that we should have the ענין of עבודה, that we should work, and therefore He made things that we don't, in other words, there's always going to be a level of that we enjoy, and there's going to be another level that we don't enjoy.

No matter where what level you get to, there's always going to be a אתכפיא that you can do. You can always push yourself to do more and work harder.

So, there's two things. First thing that is that is that he has to realize that that the whole reason that השם made that you have this thing that you don't feel like doing stuff is giving you an opportunity to have a meaningful relationship, because when you make yourself sit and and do something that you don't feel like doing to connect to God, that's where it's a meaningful thing, that you actually are giving something up.

So that's that's the נעשה, that's the first thing. And that is really a prerequisite. That willingness to to push a little bit is what will give him the ability to really then have the נשמע afterwards. So first, he has to make like החלטות to to to do things like just externally to make sure that he's like all of these things הלכה that you're supposed to do, to make sure the place is nice, and stand nicely, and look in the סידור, and and not to talk during דאווענען, and not to and to not take his תפילין off early.

External Actions (נעשה) Precede Internal Acceptance 10:51

Right. So once you have all these things and you're you're not like if you're doing things that are that to try to get out early, that will make you that will mess it up. So first, you have to get the נעשה right, that you have to make a certain effort to even if you feel like, you know, like to finish תהלים before you take your תפילין off, or whatever whatever it is for you that would show that you're making this a priority.

Once you do that, then you have to though start to understand, appreciate why to make a person appreciate it, to understand what it is, what's going on when you're דאווענען, and
