Light of Chesed and Its Expression 0:02
ועל דרך משל ט' ספירות שבאור מדת החסד, for example, the nine ספירות that are in the light of the מדה of חסד, meaning a person wants to do a nice thing, they want to do a חסד, so their רצון for the חסד, to express their חסד, their desire to express their חסד is that expression is the אור of the חסד.
So when they actually express this this חסד, the light is the their the expression of their kindness, and then the way that they express that in whatever they're going to do, to say nice words and give a gift, so those are the כלים. And now we're saying that this also has פנימיות, אמצעיות, and חיצוניות of the כלים. המוגבל בג' מיני אותיות, so when the מדה of חסד is expressed, it's limited through three types of letters.
אותיות המחשבה, first is the letters of thought, בחינת פנימיות הכלי, that's the inner vessel. And that expresses ולבחינת חב"ד שבחסד, that expresses the intellect of the חסד. So in their mind, in their thoughts, they think to themself why they want to do this חסד and how to do it and how not to do it.
ואותיות הדבור, and the letters of speech, אמצעיות כלי, that's the middle vessel, לחג"ת שבחסד, that's for the emotions of the חסד. So in the main thing of speech is they tell the person kind words and they they express their their feelings in by telling the person in speech how they feel.
ואותיות המעשה, and the letters of action, meaning what the person does to actually be kind, לבחינת נהי שבאור חסד, that's the vessel for the נהי, the like expression in in a practical expression of the light of חסד.
So like if we're going to go back to our nice guy from פרק י' that gave the poor person the coat, so first he thought to himself about, "Oh, I want to help this person. What can I do?" He analyzed the situation, he came up with ideas of how he could help, so that's חכמה and בינה. And obviously he has a very strong דעת to this because he's a kind person, and so somebody that's in trouble really affects him.
Example: Giving a Coat to the Poor 2:30
And then he spoke to the person kindly. He said, "Come in, sit down. Let me help you warm up." And then the letters of מעשה, he went and he actually brought him the coat.
שהוא בחינת כח המעשה, and the letters of מעשה, that is the power of action שבחסד within this חסד לעשותו בפועל ממש to actually do it, יש לו כלי מיוחד, and that has its special כלי. In other words, within the אור חסד there is the כח המעשה of the חסד, the power of actually making something happen, and that is expressed in its own כלי, in the כלי of מעשה.
והאהבה שבחסד, and the love within the חסד, which is like the מדה, that's the חג"ת of the חסד, יש לו כלי מיוחד, that has its own כלי. והשכל והטעם שבחסד, and the intellect and the reason for the חסד, why he wants to do it, יש לו כלי מיוחד וכולי, that also has its own כלי.
And that's the idea of the פנימיות, אמצעיות, and חיצוניות of the כלים. ועל הרוב, and usually, השכל והטעם שבחסד מהרהר במחשבה, usually the intellect and the reason for the חסד is thought in thought, והאהבה שבו, and the love within the חסד, יאמר בדבור, will be said in speech, וכח המעשה שבו, and the power of action within this חסד, יעשה בפועל ממש, will be done in actuality.
So we see how the חסד has these three parts, חב"ד, חג"ת, נהי, and each one of those has their own כלי. אמנם כשבא בג' מיני אותיות דמחשבה, דבור, מעשה, נקראין לבושין דמינהון וכולי. However, the truth is that this משל we just gave you of the letters of thought, speech, and action, those are not really the idea of כלים, that's really the idea of לבושים. Like later we'll explain the difference between כלים and לבושים, but the basic difference is that כלים are set and לבושים are are like clothes that you change.
Tools vs Garments: Understanding the Difference 4:36
And so the thought, speech, and action are like a vessel to the vessel, which is like a garment that changes. That's an even more external garment that we'll speak about later.
Like it says here, לבושין דמינהון, לבושין which from them, was it פרחין נשמתין דבר נש or something, that the souls of men, souls of people come out from them. And then also the angels, and that's the idea of like the source of the נבראים that are in בריאה, יצירה, ועשיה come from the לבושים. But in אצילות, it's called it's still כלים because it's still אלוקות. It's still like part part of Godliness.
שלמטה מבחינת כלים, this is lower than the כלים, דעליהם אמר איהו וגרמוהי חד וכולי. About the כלים it says that he and his organs are one.
That the כלים are still אלוקות. The כלים of the even the כלים of אצילות are still one with God, and they're still Godliness. ולא על הלבושין, but that was not said about the garments. The garments are already separate from אלוקות. אבל בחינת הכלים דנפש רוח נשמה, but the כלים for the נר״ן, הוא מוחא וליבא וכולי. That is the brain, the heart, and the liver.
Organs as Vessels for Chesed Light 6:19
And those are the actual כלים. That's where it's like expressed to yourself, that how you know what you're feeling, the light of חסד, the way that you know what שכל you have is when it goes in your brain. You know what emotion you have when it's in your heart, and you know what מעשה and and the כח המעשה is when it goes into your into your digestive system, and from the food you ate, you get כח to do something.
So that's the actual כלי for the אור. And this is before like the שכל was brought into מחשבה in a certain language, or the feeling in your heart is spoken in a certain language, and before the מעשה is done in a particular מעשה. It's just the the desire to bring it out in מעשה, and like the ability to do it in מעשה, that's that's the כלי of מעשה.
That's the the real כלי, that's the liver.
And now we're going to explain how the מוחא, ליבא, כבדא also have the פנימיות, אמצעיות, וחיצוניות. ובלב יש ג׳ מדרגות. The heart has three levels: פנים, ואמצעים, וחיצונים. The inner כלים, the middle כלים, and the external כלים. ולנגד ט׳ ספירות וכולי, corresponding to the nine ספירות, חב״ד, חג״ת, נה״י. בחינת חב״ד שבמידת האהבה או היראה וכולי, the intellect, the חכמה, בינה, דעת of the מידה of love or the מידה of fear, שנקרא מושכל של המידות וכולי, that is called the intellectual aspect of the emotions, why you feel this
Three Levels of the Heart 7:25
emotion, הוא בחלל הימיני שבלב, that's in the right side of the heart, שמאיר בו ממוח החכמה, that in the right side of the heart shines from the brain of חכמה, ששליט על הלב וכולי, which the מוחא שליט על הלב, the the brain rules over the heart. So your brain tells your heart what emotion to have.
So if somebody did something nice to you, and you say, "Oh, that was so nice. I like this person." That's what your brain says to you, and then your heart your heart says, "Ah, I like, you know," and it feels like love.
And if somebody did something bad to you, if somebody hit you, then your brain says, "Oh, look what that guy did! He hit me." And then then your brain, you know, thinks about it, and it says, "Oh, I hate him. I want to get him." And then it shines in your heart as anger, or fear if he's bigger than you and you don't think you can get him.
This is mainly through the the nerves. The nerves are like the חב״ד. So the nerves from that go from the brain to the heart connect to the right side of the heart and control how fast it beats.
Nerves as the Intellectual Vessel (חב״ד) 9:13
And that's the חב״ד of the מידה, which comes from the מידה of the חב״ד, that the part of the brain that connects to the emotions in the heart goes through the nerves and connects to the brain of the heart, which are the nerves around the heart.
The right side of the heart is the part of the heart that's connected to the nerves, and that's what decides how fast the heart's going to beat. I think it's I think it's called the sinus node, something like that.
So that's the inner vessel of the heart, which is where it connects to the intellect.
והרגש שבאהבה ויראה וכולי, and the emotion of the אהבה ויראה, the הרגש of it, שהוא הנקרא מורגש, that's what's called the felt part of the מדה, in other words the actual feeling of love and the feeling of fear, not just that your brain tells you intellectually that you should feel love or you should feel fear, but the actual feeling. So, for example, like the feeling of love is like a relaxed,
it's a calm, the whole body gets calm, and
I mean, it could be the heart beats faster, but usually it's like beats slowly and everything is like, breathing is slow, and it's like, ah, you know, that's like usually אהבה. And then יראה is usually like especially, I mean, either fear or anger, the heart beats very quickly and everything gets tense.
So there's a different feeling in your heart and your lungs and the breathing and your heartbeat of, and your whole body even, it's a different feeling for each emotion.
And based on the feeling and the different patterns of your heart beating and your lungs breathing, that's how you know what emotion you're feeling. That's the difference between the emotions.
היינו בבחינת אמצעיות כלי הלב, that's in the middle vessel of the heart, שהוא רוח החיים שדופק בחלל השמאלי, that is the spirit of life which beats in the left part of the heart, the left ventricle, the left side of the heart. So, in the left side of the heart, that is where the oxygen is pumped from the left side of the heart to the whole body.
Left and Right Heart Functions in Emotion 11:44
That's one thing, and also, like we're going to say now, שנמשך ממוח בינה, that this comes from the brain of בינה, שנקרא רוח, which is called רוח.
That בינה is called like the רוח, where רוח means always like a feeling. והוא בבחינת כלי הרגש החיות של המדות בהתפעלותם וכולי. This is the vessel to feel the vitality of the emotions when they're excited, to feel the excitement and feel the, that it gets you pumped up or whatever effect it has on you, that's mainly from the left side of the heart. It seems that this is mainly talking about all the different changes in the, based on the change of the beating of your heart, that also then from your brain like different hormones are put into the blood, and those go out throughout your whole body and make your body react in a certain way that gives the feeling of that emotion.
And that's mainly in the right side of the, the left side of the heart, because the left side of the heart is what pumps the blood to the whole body. The right side of the heart just pumps the blood through the lungs into the left side of the heart.
Although, also on the way through the lungs, it also picks up oxygen, which is also called רוח החיים, and then that, the amount of oxygen in your in your blood and in your body also affects the way you feel.
Like if you feel lightheaded if you have too much, if you have too little oxygen, and you feel like energized if you have a lot of oxygen, that's also part of the feeling. That's also called
רוח החיים.
