Spiritual Emotions in Heart vs. Liver 0:03

וכן המדות הרוחניים בליבא, the same thing, the spiritual emotions in the heart, ונפש הרוחניות בכבד וכולי. In other words, that God creates a certain like systems of how He's going to relate to the world, certain modes of conduct, you know, like being strict and being nice and different like roles and systems and whatever, and those are the vessel to reveal His different relationships with the world, which are the inherent lights of the מדות.

And the same thing with the liver, that God creates a certain thing of like sustaining the world, like this whole thing that we're talking about, how it has to be constantly built up and like to maintain the form and all those things, which are like the external emotions, which are like the external relationship of God to the world that are revealed through the vessel of God being like provider of sustenance and like those kind of things.

Oh, we didn't We didn't do We didn't do the משל for our our heart, the last one? I guess we didn't. Well, we're going No, we're going to do those details later.

Right now, he's just saying that when it comes into the vessel, it changes from spiritual to physical, like we see that our emotions when they go from our soul to the heart, that now we feel those emotions in a certain way, so we experience love in a certain way and fear in a certain way because it's being felt through our heart. And the same thing with like our our like thing of life is now expressed through like the liver, through like digestion, and using energy, and expelling waste, and the whole like it's a certain physical process which gives us just like our basic life, which is like the thing of just like having our body be built into a certain form and whatever, which is like the level of עשיה of the soul, which is on the level of נפש, that it influences the body to just like be built in a certain form, which is like the liver.

Well, it's not limited, by the way, it's not only defined by the way it's in the body, and it's really coming from it's really this inner spiritual power, and just that in like the way that the thing of like eating and that you need certain nutrients and whatever, and that whole system of the way that our body works is really just totally circumstantial to the soul. The soul is just wants the body to be a vessel for it, and so it like in it like pushes it to be in that form.

But the way that the body works, the DNA, and the blood, and the liver, and all those kind of things, is like a much more limited thing.

Physical Limitations Shaping Soul Expression 2:36

And that limits it. So that's why, like, because of the way that your digestion works and stuff like that, there's now certain limitations that the soul's only expressed in certain ways and not in other ways. So because of the soul being coming into the vessel of the body, you can only eat certain things, and other things, you know, you can't eat, and certain things what your soul will only be will only turn certain things into the body, and certain things it won't be able to exert that influence on.

Why? Because it has to do through the vessel of the liver. The liver is only able to do it to certain things, because it works in a certain way. But really, as far as the soul's concerned, like it could be, you know, you could be a soul, it could be a soul of a tree, and it would do it in a different way with different things, because it has a different

vessel. והן ענין ג׳ שליטים דלעילא, and these three vessels, the mind, the heart, and the liver, the brain, the heart, and the liver, are like the they're called the three governors above, these are the three vessels that govern everything, that God created a certain form for His revelation of like the consciousness of Godliness, which is like the mind, and a certain revelation for the way that He's going to reveal His interaction with the world, which is the heart, as far as like good and bad and showing conscious care and direction, and then a certain vessel for just like providing the basic needs and like just making the world, you know, its design and maintaining it and everything like that, which is the liver.

And since God does those in a certain way, so therefore certain things make us conscious of certain of of like certain aspects of that relationship, and other things make us conscious of other aspects of the relationship, and those are like the that's the vessel that God has for those things.

So, these are the ג׳ כלים כוללים דנר״ן דז״א דאצילות. These are the three general vessels for the נפש, רוח, נשמה of ז״א of אצילות. נשמה שהוא בחינת מוחין דחכמה ובינה דמלובשא בז״א במוחא, the נשמה, which is the intellect, the mind of חכמה ובינה of ז״א of אצילות, goes into the brain, ורוח בליבא וכולי, and the the רוח goes in the heart, and the נפש goes into the כבד, the liver.

והן האותיות דאורות דאצילות, these are the these vessels are the letters of the lights of אצילות, שזהו ענין ד׳ שמות ע״ב ס״ג דאצילות וכולי. These are the four names ע''ב, ס''ג, מ''ה, ב''ן of אצילות, which are, in other words, that God defined His revelation through these four names, and each name, the letters of that define how that revelation is going to work. So that certain things חכמה gets a certain definition, בינה gets a certain definition, and so on.

Four Divine Names Define Light Vessels 5:00

שנקראים כלים לעשר ספירות דאצילות, which are these are called the vessels for the ten ספירות of אצילות, המגבילים האור, that they limit the light, ומצמצמי, and they contract it, so that now God reveals Himself through these relationships. לפי שמעיבוי האור נעשה כלי, because the vessel comes from the thickening of the light. In other words, that really, God could reveal Himself through any way, but since He chose to reveal it in like a concrete, specific way, and, you know, by narrowing it down to that specific thing, so that makes the vessel.

See, what the idea is, it's like, the shape of a chair comes from your תחת. In other words, that you already have a certain form, let's say like your body, that you, and so you are comfortable in a certain positions. And so you, when you make a chair, the shape of the chair is just taking the fact that you're comfortable in certain things, you have a certain shape, and when you put that into a tangible, that like idea put into tangible form, it dictates the form of the chair.

Desire to Drink → Forming a Cup 6:29

Let's say your desire to like drink water, when put into the context of like the way that water works and the whatever and the way that different materials work, it's going to create the form of a cup. That's why all cups have certain things in common, because in order to be effective vessel within the the the the limitations of our world, it has to have a certain form, because your desire already has a certain form.

So the same thing, God creates first a certain form for the way He wants to reveal Himself, which is the light, which is like your desire to like be comfortable or to drink or whatever, and then He creates a certain limitation, which is like the vessel, which is like the way the world works, and then when the two come together, the light gives a certain form to the matter to make it be a good vessel for that.

So God made the soul, and then He made physical matter have a certain form, and then when He put the two together, it in order for the body, the soul to express itself through the physical matter, the matter has to be built into the shape of a body. That's the best way for it to express the soul. Yeah, there's a, we're going to talk about that soon.

We're going to do both sides of the coin. We'll say the מעלה of the אור and the מעלה of the כלי. But not not in this chapter, I don't think. Right.

So these are the the letters which are the vessels of the ספירות of אצילות, which limit the light, כמו שכתוב בעץ חיים, like it says in עץ חיים, והוא נקרא בחינת היש של האור. This is called the like the ego of the light, the somethingness of the light, the tangibleness of it. כשנראה לבחינת יש ודבר מה במציאות כידוע וכו', when it seems to be like a distinct entity.

So like, when God reveals Himself in a certain form, and then it appears like that is who He is, and you can like define Him in that by that revelation, and say like what it is, that is the idea of the vessel.

So when you can say, oh, God is wise, that's because God put Himself into a vessel, like as if it's a body. And that's why like when they define God as being like omnipotent, omniscient, and all these different things, because God put Himself into the vessel of those things as if it's a body. Just like I point to your body and say, oh, that's שמואל, because your soul like put its is is in that vessel.

So God reveals Himself, you know, through the these vessels as if that's like who He is. So it becomes like a ישות. But that's the מקור of the perception of bad, like we explained a little bit. ונמצא ב' מיני שמות ע''ב ס''ג וכו', so it comes out there's two types of names, ע''ב, ס''ג, מ''ה, ב''ן. א' שלפני אצילות, one before אצילות in in א''ק, והב' אחר אצילות, one lower than the light of אצילות, שהן הכלים המגבילים, which are the the vessels that limit the light of אצילות.

ולפי זה, based on this, המכוון בשמות, when somebody intends to the names, מכוון במקור האורות, you should intend to the source of the light, which is what we're saying now. In other words, now seemingly the main thing is the spiritual revelation, and you should think about that name, and automatically, כמו אם מכוון בבחינת שם ע''ב מקור לאור החכמה וכו'.

Intentional Focus on Divine Names 9:31

So like when you're דאווענינג, you should have in mind what God is really trying to reveal Himself, like what, you know, through the vessel חכמה, what what godly revelation is there, and you should see past the vessel of how it is, and you shouldn't like ask God to make things come out in a certain way, or it's like, you know what I mean, you should realize that really it's beyond that, and once you clarify that light that you're trying to that God's trying to reveal, automatically it'll come out properly in the right vessel.

And because it'll impose its form onto the vessel automatically, and that's the main thing. And וממילא הוא מכוון בכלי החכמה, automatically you'll be מכוון בכלי החכמה, שממשיך למטה וכולי וד"ל. So in other words like if you want to understand the תורה, so you should just try to see past it into the godliness behind the תורה, and automatically you'll understand the תורה properly. That's why like when you learn תורה לשמה, you are able to understand it properly, because you get the real thing behind it and automatically you know how Once you like get a perception of what God's trying to reveal and you like become sensitive to the godliness, automatically you're able to put it into the intellect properly and make sure that it's coming out right, because you know like the real goal.

It's a separate thing. It's to clear In other words, it's like when you're talking to somebody, so oh, this is the משל. The משל is that when you're talking to somebody, so you have to talk to their ear, but their ear is only the external vessel for their for their really you want them to understand.

What you should do is focus on trying to make them understand, and automatically you'll control your voice to make it in a way that their voice their ear will hear.

That's the way you talk to people: you look at their face and see if they're understanding you, and if not, you automatically adjust your voice, if it looks like they can't hear you, you automatically adjust the way that you talk to make sure that they understand.

So automatically if you're מכוון to the אור, you'll be מכוון to the כלי, you don't have to worry about it. And the same thing when you go ask somebody for something, there's two ways you can ask: you can ask, could you reach in your pocket and give me like a dollar?

Or you could say, could you help me? And automatically he'll do whatever he can to help you, and he'll figure out on his own how to do it. So that's like the thing, like when you דאווען to השם, you shouldn't really be מכוון to like to ask, like, "Oh, make me win the תן יד auction," because that's the vessel, cuz that's the vessel!

You should be מכוון to why would God want to do that? Why would God want to give it to me? And think about, well, you know, because because he whatever it is, like he wants to take care of me or so that I can or even more so like, why does he want to give it to me? Reveal godliness, he wants me to do מבצעים or whatever, and I don't know, do whatever it is.

And when you focus on that inner כוונה, automatically God will give you whatever you need so you can do it. And you don't have to worry about the So you don't worry about the vessel, cuz who you don't really care how it comes out. You really, because that's the thing, you don't really want the money, you really want, you know, that you shouldn't have to worry about פרנסה so you can דאווען and whatever and do what you need to do.

So you start doing that, and you ask God to give you that and focus on that, and automatically everything will be set up so that you can do that properly.

This is called אמונה. This is called אמונה, where you just trust that God is going to make everything come out for the best and you don't worry about the vessel, you let Him take care of it.

Aligning Intent with Torah and Mitzvot 13:22

You're just מכוון to the inner thing that my job is to do תורה ומצוות and do what I'm supposed to do, and God knows what's best for me and He'll figure out how to help me do what I what what's best for me. Oh, we're going to talk about later about that that's like called בטחון, that's an opposite עבודה that you focus on the כלי. But right now we're talking about the different והיינו כוונת השמות דח"י ברכות שמונה עשרה.

This is the way you should be מכוון the names in שמונה עשרה, that you should when you when you're דאווענינג, you should be מכוון to the inner thing. And like it says in מאמר, you shouldn't just be asking for like a physical thing. Like when you say מברך השנים, you should be מכוון that God should give you like a year that's successful in like דאווענינג and learning and stuff like that.

Yeah, so there's certain places it says that you should be מכוון דווקא to the רוחניות of the ברכות and you shouldn't be asking for the גשמיות. And there's other places where it implies that you're דווקא asking for the גשמיות. And later we're going to talk about the opposite, that you like דווקא ask for the physical thing. But really it's both it's really both. First you have to be מכוון to the רוחניות, and then as long once you recognize that, then you can be back in actually asking for the גשמיות.

We'll see. We'll get to that next chapter or or later chapter. כי הא בהא תליא משום דשרש הכלים מקבלים משמות דעצמות ומעצמותו כו' כמו שנתבאר וד"ל.

Since the vessels come from the light, so once you're מכוון to the light, automatically the vessels will come out good. And that's why when you מבטל yourself more to God and תורה ומצוות and you are doing השם's שליחות, automatically He gives you all the ברכות and gives you everything good so that you can do it properly, because in order to do it properly, you need to have money, and health, and, you know, no worries, and children, and everything like that.

So if you're מכוון to the כוונה, automatically God will give you those things. And that's the main כוונה in שמונה עשרה, which is why like the ענין that like comes after שמע, that if you're מכוון in שמע to have מסירת נפש for God and be מבטל yourself, and commit yourself to doing תורה ומצוות, and like קבלת עול מלכות שמים, קבלת עול מצוות, and all those things, then God answers you in שמונה עשרה, because then when you're asking, you're מכוון that you want to spread Godliness and whatever, and then He's giving it to you, then you become a good vessel for the light.

So then God wants to give it to you because it's it's not a waste. God's not going to give you the stuff if it's going to go against the כוונה. It's a waste.

That's the כוונה of שמונה עשרה. Now, really God loves us, and He'll give it He'll give us, you know, things, and there's all different kinds of things going on here, but that's like the ענין of being מכוון in in שמונה עשרה.
