How חב״ד Receives from כתר 0:00
מעתה, now, now that we explained the different ways that חב״ד can receive from כתר, either from the מזלות, or from the זרועות, from the מידות, in other words. And מזלות, if it gets from מזלות, then it's getting from the חב״ד and even higher, all the way to עצם כתר. Or it can get it from the מידות of כתר, which is that the ו מלביש on the זרועות דאריך אנפין, or it can get it like the normal way from נה״י of אריך אנפין, that goes, like we said, the נה״י of the עליון goes into the תחתון.
In this chapter, we're going to explain three different levels of יחודי אבא ואמא, when חכמה and בינה, not חכ- but as a פרצוף, אבא ואמא, when the פרצופים אבא ואמא come together, yeah, to work together to understand an idea, because they're called, you know, תרין ריעין דלא מתפרשין, right? Yeah, they're always working together.
As soon as you get an idea in חכמה, right away you start to analyze it, and order it, and categorize it, and name things in בינה. And as soon as you're analy- whenever you try to analyze something in בינה, you always have to try you always try to like find generalities and similarities in חכמה, and you know, see how it all how it all fits together. You're always using both together.
But when you're they're coming together to produce ideas, they can come together on three general levels, and that's what we're going to discuss here. Now, it seems to me that these three levels correspond to the three levels of where חכמה and בינה receive from that we discussed in the last chapter, and that depending what if it was which level it receives from, that's the level of the יחוד that it has.
Linking יחוד Levels to חכמה and בינה Sources 1:37
Hey, the middle was זרועות, it's like a puppet, yeah. That's like when somebody is their intellect is blinded by emotion, or like political things. On top of that is when it gets from the מזלות.
In other words, let's say let's do a quick review of the last chapter. Basically, if a person's desire, when when it comes to intellect, is for the intellect itself, that means it's from the חב״ד of the רצון, that they want the חב״ד, so then the חב״ד is true. Then they are pursuing the true idea, essentially.
If it's coming from the emotions, that means that the intellect is being used as a puppet to prove the emotions, to justify it, to verify it. Then if it's coming from נה״י, it's being used as a tool, which is normal with or מרכבה, it's using it's being used it's being objective, but it's only allowed to figure out a means to an end, how to accomplish the goal that the רצון wants.
And so you let your intellect be objective, but only figuring out the means. It's not able to challenge the the goal. That's already you don't need the intellect it doesn't you don't care about that anymore for the intellect. It's not up for discussion.
And that's like normal everyday intellect. Like when you got to go to your job, your intellect is not usually like get thinking, oh, should I be doing this?
You know, is this the right job for me? Normally, you just think how to do your job, which is what the when it get which is like the נה״י.
Mזלות Level: True Love of the Thing 3:24
שבת, you're supposed to be on the level of the מזלות. When it gets from the מזלות, then really also like the inner תענוג is hidden in there, and made a person's like very smart. The מזלות are like in of the חב״ד in אריך אנפין, cuz in the מוחא סתימאה, בינה סתימאה, but their their שורש is really in the liquid, and it's really in the skull. It's higher than liquid.
So really the like we said, you know, about how עתיק is מלובש in אריך, it's really coming all the way from עתיק, the מידות of עתיק. And this is what it says, פנימיות אבא פנימיות עתיק, because the שכל, when it comes from the מזלות, is really coming from the מידות of עתיק that are מלובש in the גולגלתא, and the liquid, and all the קרומא and everything. That's why like a person that that that has a big talent for something, that means that this that their שכל receives from the מזלות in this thing.
It means that they love the thing itself. They see it as an end in itself. And so when their שכל is looking into it, it's looks at it it enjoys every detail, and looks at every detail of it, because they enjoy the thing itself, and they're they're they're learning about it and thinking about it because of the thing itself, and not as a means to an end.
So the more something becomes just a means to an end, you the less you care about it, the more you just look at it in like a שטחיות, general way. And so you pass over the details that make you really good at it, really smart at it. That's why somebody like the רבי, even naturally, would be very smart at everything. Why? Because, and this is also true about us, if you, when when you learn חסידות, and you really take to heart what it's saying, it will make you very smart in everything.
Why? Because the thing that makes you stupid at things that you don't really pay attention to the details, you just look over it generally, like a גירסא thing on on it. When you go through life, you see most things as being not very important and you don't really think about or care about. And you see it's like the kids in school that they don't they're not so smart, but then when it comes to something they really enjoy, like like my teacher said that there was this kid he knew, in school he wasn't so good at math, wasn't so good in general in school, but then he had these hockey cards and he knew every statistic for every player, you know?
And like, you know what I mean, how and he could like add up all the things and figure out all the different percentages and the different whatever, you know, he knew how to figure all that stuff out, because he loved it. So, yeah, so the thing is, if a person only enjoys, you know, the football, everything else in life he just kind of goes through on autopilot, just to like the bare minimum to get by, so he's not going to notice the details, not going to be interested, he's not going to he's not going to really understand it.
But with חסידות it's it teaches you to find the godliness in everything, which is the idea of like עיון. When you go through life, because when it talks about like עיון and גירסא in the first chapter, it's talking about, you know, the real thing it's talking about is when you go through life in the world, whether you stop and look at try to find the דבר הוי׳ in things or in the אלוקות in things, or whether you just pass over it.
But when you see that the everything has has אלוקות in it, so then you see things as a means as as an as an end in themselves, as having essential value, and so you're interested in the thing itself. And so you care about all its little details, and you spend time on it, and to be interested in it.
And so that makes you be able to, you know, be very good at everything. Very and especially when you see how they connect. And that's the idea of like the מזלות pointing to it, that you see that your עצם תענוג goes into it, then the חושים, and that means that you actually want the thing itself. And that's also the idea of the מזלות, so like like the hairs.
The idea of a צמצום of a hair means that like the whole עצם comes over, it just comes in over in such a in a tiny drop.
So, that's the way when you look at something as being like as as as the essence is just like a little example of the essence, like that's the same thing, like you see everything as being just an example of godliness. So you see that it's ממש you feel like it's ממש godliness, it's not a means to an end, it's the end in itself. That's the idea of like that the essence is coming over, it's just just in a little way.
So you see it as being an end in itself, not just a means to an end. It's just a little example of it, so it's a מצומצם thing of the end, but it's ממש a something of the the real goal. And so that makes a much, much bigger שכל and תענוג in it and everything.
זרועות Level: Intellect as a Puppet 7:59
If you're just doing the the the זרועות, the מדות going into חכמה בינה, that's like somebody that it's very smart and and and is always like looking and thinking into things that he sees in the world, but he's but he's looking with an agenda.
So he's always looking to use everything to prove something, prove his view, you know? Like let's say somebody that's always trying to prove like the רבי is משיח or something like that, you know? So, yeah, the way he learns a שיחה, but the way really everything, you know? If he's really good at it, so he'll try to do with everything. But it's not appreciating the thing itself, you know, as having merit or value, or a lesson.
So he really sees the thing as contradicting it, as being something outside of it, but he's using it. There's two ways you can use it: you can use it in the way of like the puppet, or you can use it in the way of just like a means to an end. So that's a means to an end means that that he would like since he wants to spread that the רבי is משיח, so he'll like learn about, you know, publishing and radio, and whatever, so he can use those as a means to publicize it, you know what I mean?
But he really doesn't care about it at all. So when it's at the level of מדות, it's it's actually he connects it to the עצם thing, you know, he doesn't and therefore it becomes more powerful, because he makes it like that if that since he believes the רבי is משיח, so therefore, like the שיחה has to, you know, substantiate that, and so you know what I mean?
He like cares to find the way that it's supports his view. There's a there's a means to an end that's that's that's not connected to the thing, and there's a means to an end that's connected to the thing. In other words, you're not going to get emotional Let's say he's just trying to translate the a a thing about the רבי being משיח into a different language, and he's trying to figure out what's the best word.
So there, you know, he's using it as a means means to an end, but where it doesn't really matter, it's not something that could affect his the עצם thing. The level of the מידות means that he's worried that something could affect the עצם thing. So he kind of feels threatened, so he has to twist it. You know what I mean?
Like, let's say somebody loves their child, parents, so since they love their child, so then when they see their child doing something wrong, a lot of times their intellect will will twist the thing and try to overlook what the child did wrong. Or the same thing a person does with himself, because he loves himself, and so he sees himself as being a certain way, and if he sees this thing that he did is contradicting the way he wants to be, and so he tries to cover it up.
So then, in other words, that that that it's already a given in his mind that he is good, or his child is good, but since he sees this thing is threatening that, so therefore he feels like he has to wrestle with it. You understand? That's the level of the מידות, that he that he doesn't see this as being the essential thing, but something that's like a symptom.
And so, it it's necessary for it to be in line with it, and it's threatening if it's not. Whereas the נהי is something that's not threatening. In other words, you know, let's say let's say, you know, you're figuring out how to drive to work or something like that, you know what I mean? So you're using your intellect, but it's not, you know, figure out a way to make money, but you don't feel like that doesn't threaten your essential beliefs and values if, you know, like you have to take a detour and to go a different way, like you don't really care.
מידות vs נהי: Threat vs Non‑Threat 11:09
You know what I mean? You just want to get there so you can get the money. Whereas the intellect that made you decide you have to go to work is a bias of love towards your family, that that you feel that you have to provide for them. Yeah, you don't really care, but the way that you, you know, the intellect of getting there is done is already lost loses it's cold already.
Whereas the intellect of like, you know, that that you you know, I love them, and so I have to provide for them, is is hot. It's not your actual love for them, like you you could you could really still love them even if you don't go to work, but on the other hand, it kind of it's like a it's not like the love itself, but it's like a sign.
If you really love them and you don't want to provide for them, that's kind of doesn't look great.
