Letters as Shapes and Numbers 0:04
The letters, and you can say first there's a ו, and the second letter is a ה, and the third letter is a י, and then you have another י and a נ and a ו. And then you take your stylus and you go, you make a little dash and that'll give you a line, I mean a a space. Remember you told me that?
Yeah, right. Right, and you could you could literally, I could even take this and go letter by letter and copy it over and send it to you, and you'll be able to read it and understand what it means and I never knew what it meant.
Right. And I never knew what it meant. Like you could send a Chinese guy over with a message Like on like on gravestones, you know, they have they they they pick out the letters for what you want it to say. The guy who's cutting the gravestone, he doesn't have the slightest idea what he's doing. He's just going by the numbers like the א has a number one, the ב has number two, you know, he's just going by the numbers.
You mean that's how they make them. That's how they make gravestones. Oh, it means a guy that doesn't even know the the Hebrew ABCs. Right, he doesn't know what it is. It's a guy that doesn't know Hebrew. Yeah, just some some Mexican worker or something like that. He just knows shapes. He knows that's this shape and that's that shape. The first you put this shape and then you put that shape.
Right. Right, right. There's a card that he follows that you know, shape number one, shape number three. And he doesn't know what it is. Right, the same thing like the same thing like you can have a Korean guy singing an American song and he has no idea what it says. But you can you understand what it says.
Mimic Performers and Language Gaps 1:53
Right. Or you can send a guy with a message that he has no idea what it means. You tell him, "Tell them this." But, he went to a trip to Russia. So, one of the things, they took him to some nightclub. Yeah. And there was a the the performer there was able to sing in like 50 languages. Yeah, but he didn't understand them. You know, he knew like two songs from every language.
Right. So, all the tourists, they were tourists from all sorts of langu- from all sorts of countries. They were very excited when he sang their songs. Right. But, he didn't understand what he was singing. Yeah, he had no idea what he was singing. But, they did. He was he's a mimic, you know. He's like a parrot. Yeah, no, he learned how to say those sounds. Right, but he doesn't know what they mean.
Right, and the same thing like the same thing like a little kid who knows how to how to write letters, you can tell him to copy this whole book. And he can copy it, he says, "Oh, okay, there's a ה. Okay, I'll write a ה, and after the ה, you write another ה." And he can write this fantastically deep book.
And it's and that's like the thing of the מחשבה of לאה. Because the מחשבה of לאה basically is like this little baby that's writing a book. Right. The מחשבה of לאה itself has no idea what he's writing. Right. Any more than your hand does. Right. When your hand the מחשבה in your hand is not really in your hand, it's really in your brain. Right. The hand itself, or let's say let's take it even further, like the typewriter or the computer.
You press a button and the computer writes a thing on the screen and it's a whole פלפול and this and that. It could be a whole emotional thing.
As far as the computer's concerned... And the computer passes it back and forth and it's all just letters. That's the מחשבה of of of that's the מחשבה of לאה.
Mחשבת שכל: Plain Meaning vs Depth 3:45
The מחשבת שכל is the actual meaning of not just the words, but the whole meaning of this book, for instance. Like we read, והיינו בחינת ישסבא ותבונה ישסבא מדות דחכמה ותבונה מדות דבינה אך בו בבחינת הגילוי לאחור ופירוש מלכות דתבונה הוא השכל הבא במחשבה הנקרא יששכר מחשבת שכל.
Right. That's And then there's a whole התבוננות that that is holding that we're doing now, and we're adding more letters. But, still Notice, we took a tiny little thing and you already had to flip the tape. Right. Why'd you have to flip the tape? Because the whole thing is with this tiny little parenthesis should take two, three, four seconds total to say it.
So, the מחשבת עיון is when you take that meaning and then you look for what is the deeper meaning of it. Right, but now the
מחשבת עיון itself is also coming in letters of תבונה and מחשבת שכל. Meaning we're understanding the meaning here. In other words, like the whole thing that we're talking now, It also has letters. is not is not just that that original מחשבת שכל, but we took the original מחשבה מחשבת שכל, and now we're doing this whole התבוננות, but the whole התבוננות is being held in the כלי of מחשבת שכל.
And the And that is in the לבושים of לאה. Right.
מחשבת שכל as the כלי of Thought 5:16
And and the thing is, the מחשבת שכל is a כלי. What does it mean? The מחשבת שכל is not separate from From מחשבה ועיון. from the עיון. Right. Like like, for instance, from the mind itself. In other words, like in the שער היחוד, the external letters of שער היחוד, like these letters that you see in front of you, you can erase them, you can cut them apart, you can mix them.
They have they they actually have nothing to do with the actual idea.
Absolutely nothing. Right. They're really all they are is I want to know what are they really, huh? They're just combinations. They're not even combinations. They're squiggles of ink on a piece of paper.
That's all they are. Their own עצמות is that they're squiggles of ink on a piece of paper, because, remember, the actual letter itself is not even the meaning ה'. That's already a מחשבת שכל. Right. Start of meaning. It's not א' or ה' or ב'.
The actual letter itself and and that's the same thing in the מחשבה of לאה, that that what will mean dog to an American, it means a dog, and to a to an Israeli, it means a fish.
Dog vs Cow: Mis‑translation Examples 6:42
Yeah, you know what, how you say dog in Chinese? How? Cow. Cow? Cow. Cow? Yeah. They call a dog a cow.
You know, like the the you know like the אבא עליו השלום always used to say with the two washer ladies, the Like ta ta
ta. No, that two washer ladies, a French washer lady and a German washer lady were were washing together, and and you know, the the German likes to work hard, and the you know, the French one was lazing off, you know, and so the the the German one said to her, "Wash!" Means wash. Yeah. In German In German, wash means wash, in French, it means cow. Right. So, she said to her, "Qui!"
Means who? In In French, qui means who, but in German, qui means cow. And they had a whole big fight. You know? So, the the letters could be different meaning. The letters have really nothing to do with the meaning.
Right. It's just It's just squiggles. Right. Then, there's the inner meaning. That's why there can be In the first מחשבת, huh? That's why there can be different languages, because if the letters had to do with the meaning, there would only be able to be one language. One language, right.
First Level: מלכות תבונה Explained 8:09
Okay, and then, there's the the first level of of מחשבת שכל, which is מלכות of תבונה, is the letter ה' means means ה'. This squiggle means ה'. Right. And it means ה', and it's it's it's the ה' that says, "he," and it's also that ה' that's in all the words that have a ה' in it. Right.
Then, there's the the the מלכות of תבונה, the מחשבת שכל of this book. It's the same like we said with a cat. There's actual letters, and then there's the meaning. And so so, the מחשבת שכל of שער היחוד is the the words and letters דוקא in this order. Right. It has to be in this order. Not only that, they don't go away. It's not a לבוש. It's not לבוש יחליף ויחליפו.
יחליף ויחליפו means לבוש you take it off, and you put it on. Like in a מחשבה of לאה, as as we're reading through the book, we read one letter at a time, and then one word at a time, and then we go to the next one. Right. We stop thinking that one, and we start thinking this one. But in the מחשבת שכל, it's not like that.
That's already the פנימיות הכלים. No, that's the חיצוניות הכלים. It's the חיצוניות הכלים or the פנימיות הכלים? No, it's the חיצוניות הכלים. The The מחשבת לאה is לבושים, מחשבה דיבור מעשה. Oh, okay. So, then that means מחשבה דיבור מעשה is לבושים. Right, okay. And the לבושים go on top of what? On the חיצוניות הכלים. חיצוניות הכלים. On the outside of your body. Right, right. Means that מלכות of תבונה is the end, the tail end of the שכל, Right.
that starts all the way up in כתר שבכתר. Right. The inner, actual meaning. That פנימיות, פנימיות אבא, פנימיות עתיק, and פנימיות בינה, פנימיות אבא.
And what is the חיצוניות כלי for all that? Like we said, that that life is but a dream is goes together with rowing down the stream, that's already a חכמה. And then we came up there is even deeper than a חכמה, it's a philosophy.
We went already into an inner depth, not just a חכמה that the two things go together, but a whole inner depth. But it had an inner depth that it tells you something about ממש life, the whole human situation.
You know what I'm saying? Right. There's a נקודה. Not just outer נקודה of בינה, but the inner נקודה. The inner נקודה. Right. Which meant a whole thing of life and death, and the whole business. Right, there's an inner point. The The inner inner point. Right. You know, not just First of all, the the In other words, the the the מחשבת שכל is the כלי for the the התבוננות.
The התבוננות, like he said earlier in chapter one, is only a כלי for the actual עומק המושג.
התבוננות: Analyzing to Find Inner Point 11:34
In other words, when you're thinking, the התבוננות, it means you don't understand. Right. Otherwise, why do you have to analyze it? If you If you know, so just tell me the story and that's it. Let me know, and I'll and I'll, and that's it. As you know you know what it is.
Means you don't know what it is. That's why you're doing התבוננות. That's why you're thinking about it, to get the inner point. Right. Once you get to the inner point of the עומק המושג, that again becomes a כלי to the inner point, which is the outer point of the flash of חכמה, יסוד אבא.
Right. And that becomes a כלי for inner and inner and inner, all the way, like it said, מגילוי לגילוי הבא. Comes out where? In ד' רבתי, מלכות דתבונה.
And that's the whole thing like we said before, that's the that's the רשימו.
That the whole infinite light, of course, that's not the that's not the מלכות דתבונה it's talking over here, but that's a higher מלכות דתבונה.
That the whole, ליו״ד דהשם, you know? It's the same תבונה. ליו״ד דהשם, that the whole thing goes into that מלכות דתבונה, which is just a מחשבת שכל, but still how it is with a light in it, and then comes out of it from the Actually, that's really the דגליף גליפו.
Comes out of it the letters without the light, the רשימו.
Right. You know. And that's basically what this whole thing is about. That the that there's a מחשבה of לאה, the מחשבת שכל, and the מחשבה עיונית. Right.
You know, and I I never really got it like that. I mean, I knew the levels, I never But didn't you tell me about a guy who was, you know, wanted to clarify and explain to you the difference between a מחשבה עיונית and מחשבת שכל one time? Yeah, but he he he got the beginning of it, but not to this level. I mean, that the the מחשבת שכל is מלכות דתבונה.
That's what he says here: מלכות דתבונה הוא השכל הבא במחשבה הנקרא אותיות מחשבת שכל. שהשכל מתלבש בה, that's why it's called מחשבת, the מחשבה of the actual שכל. That the שכל is מתלבש in the מחשבה means the actual meaning.
Right. And and and it says even though it says מתלבש, but it says והוא בחינת כלי חיצוני למחשבה עיונית. That's the outer כלי that holds the מחשבה עיונית.
And it's also the source of the actual letters of לאה. Means the separate letters as letters. Right. And that's that.
והוא, and this מלכות דתבונה, the מחשבת שכל, is ד' רבתי דאחד. Right. And that's the end of the parenthesis.
Okay. We're gonna have to say goodbye soon, so start back from the beginning. Yeah. Yeah, the the the it says basically, the the the אותיות of לאה is a לבוש, and the מחשבת שכל is the כלי.
Right. Is the כלי for the התבוננות, which is the מחשבה עיונית. Right. Which מחשבה Again, the מחשבה עיונית, the מחשבת שכל and the מחשבה of לאה at the time that you're doing the the עיון they're all exactly the same letters.
Right. It's exactly the same letters, ממש. No difference at all. It's the same letters in the same order. Right. But what, the מחשבה of לאה means the חיצוניות, the actual לבוש of the letters, which is not actually connected. That's why it's called לבוש.
The the מחשבת שכל is the actual meaning of what the letters mean, and the מחשב- מחשבת the מחשבה of עיון The מחשבה עיונית is the real פנימיות of the actual thinking of the inner meaning of the meaning. Right.
In other words, in terms of the meaning, the מחשבת שכל is the outer actual, just the plain meaning, Right. whereas התבוננות is the thinking into the inner meaning, and in order for it to sink into the inner meaning, it has another כלי, and that's דעת, like it says in chapter 1. The עמקות הדעת is the כלי for the התבוננות, and then it says further that the whole התבוננות is really also just a כלי.
Right. It's a כלי for the for the actual עומק המושג of בינה. Right. So so really that's all, so so that's also a כלי really, because in other words, the the התבוננות is not the goal.
Right. התבוננות is just the methodology. That's all it is. It's basically what it is. It's it's And that's what a lot of people, you know, in terms of the science science, you know how they say, science.
Science is basically התבוננות. The scientific method is a is a certain method of his התבוננות which is applied to the physical world. Right. It's analysis. That's all it is.
It's the analysis of בינה. But it's a it's an external התבוננות. It's really more תבונה שבתבונה, rather than בינה שבבינה. Right. But there is also a thing of התבוננות in it. It's basically analysis.
And it's just a method, it's a methodology. The the the actual עומק of that is the עומק עומק המושג, meaning the actual inner point of the explanation.
Right. But that is really also a כלי for the for that point of חכמה,
which the the point of חכמה is also really just a כלי for the קוצו של יוד. Right. The point of of כתר really, which is a כלי for פנימיות הכתר, רדל״א, means how the thing actually is. Right.
רדל״א means, דלא ידע, that you don't know yourself anymore, but what you know is the actual thing, exactly how it is. Right. Not how it's coming through your through the intellect at all. Right.
It means that you're getting to see it totally unfiltered. Right. And it's not even seeing it, at that point, it's a point it's a רדל״א means ידעתיו הייתיו.
Right, right. You know, like what it says, לו לו ידעתיו הייתיו. Right, yeah. And the רבי said that by חסידות, we go a level past that, ידעתיו הייתיו. Right. In other words, at that point, and how can it be הייתיו, means because you're gone. Right. You're not there.
It's not that, like like like the like by the by the גוים they think you become God. Right. You don't become nothing. You disappear, it's אין עוד מלבדו. You do become nothing.
Huh? You become nothing. Yeah, you know, it's not just you become nothing, at that point, you are never really there in the first place. Right.
You know. And at that point, that that that's also in terms of the התפעלות, that התפעלות is the real התפעלות. It's the called התפעלות בלתי מורגשת, Right. where you totally have no feeling not only of the fact that you're having התפעלות, but even you don't know that you're not having התפעלות. And you don't and you don't even know that you're there at all. You have no idea what's I mean, the the the the thing is at this point point, you're just like what bingo, bingo, bingo told me about what the רבי said: he's attached to the point of the אמת.
Right. And he doesn't let go of it. Like it said in תניא, the אמת לאמיתו, see. Right. And that's really at that point it goes at that point it goes past really עבודת המוחין, because עבודת המוחין means to attach to that point from outside that point.
Right. That's that's why it's עבודה. At the point of רדל"א there's no עבודה at all anymore. Even though it's called עבודה, but it's like a עבודה that's not really an עבודה. Even the עבודה of of of עבודת המוחין is really not called עבודה.
It's called that's called עבודת מתנה. And this is an ענין of דעת דהויה. דעת of רדל"א. Right. Which is connected to basically דעת of מלכות of א"ק.
Because that's where רדל"א comes from. Right. But really it can it can go even higher, so that's also just a כלי. So we're talking what is a light for a lower level is a כלי for an upper level. Right.
So and on each of these levels, if you look later in the book, there's a מחשבה. Like it says, אית מחשבה ולית מחשבה. Right. There's and and also there's a מחשבה of עיון, and there's a מחשבה of כתר.
You know, the two There's basically two מחשבות that he talks about, is מחשבה of עיון and מחשבה of רצון. Right. אשר חשב לעשות. Right. And really in רדל"א it becomes already almost undifferentiated, because it's פנימיות הכתר. פנימיות הכתר is פנימיות חכמה, and it's also פנימיות עתיק, which is פנימיות אריך.
And when we say knowledge, that's what knowledge is. דעת is the thing that really combines the two of them. דעת means knowledge in terms of שכל, like I know something, right? Right. And it also means רצון, really, to be connected to something.
Right. Like it says that, like we just read in the in the חומש, that the אייבערשטער saw the plight of the Jews and He knew. Right.
What it means He knew? Before He didn't know?
What you're going to say? I mean the אייבערשטער, of course He knew. What it mean He knew? Right. It means He He was connected, and now also He knew, and also that means, besides the fact that He knew, He also knew what to do.
That means not just He knew, He wanted to do it now. Right. He knew He knew what to do before, really, but He wanted to do something for them now. That's what it means He knew.
רדל"א and the Unity of Thought Levels 23:02
And at that point the מחשבות really joined together and becomes one thing. מחשבת שכל and מחשבת רצון are the same thing. You know, and that's basically also the the what if you look in קונטרס ההתפעלות the five levels, the inner level is really the פנימיות the פנימיות היחידה, which is the פנימיות of פנימיות of עתיק, Right. which is the actual תענוג in the thing.
Where the תענוג and the the the תענוג and the שכל means knowledge in terms of of of the the the essence of תענוג is knowledge, like it says, והאדם ידע את חוה. Right. That means pleasure. Right. And it also means connection, and it also means that knowledge means in an intellectual fashion also means you know something. Right. So that's why פנימיות הכתר is both the פנימיות of the רצון, because the עונג is what brings about the רצון, and it's also the פנימיות of the שכל, because the because תענוג means
consciousness. Right. And not just consciousness like a computer can separate out things, but can but the actual consciousness where he knows in terms of happiness and sadness.
You know, so that that's the whole thing of the מחשבות. It's all levels of מחשבות, and that's the whole thing of מלכות. And the דלת רבתי, you know, that the דלת רבתי, מלכות of תבונה, that's where the small דלת of מלכות speech comes from.
Like it says, ה' אלוקינו ה' אחד, ברוך שם כבוד מלכותו לעולם ועד, with a small דלת. Right. Meaning going all the way down to מלכות of מלכות of מלכות of עשיה, you know. Right.
So so basically that's it's all in, like it says, there's a chapter on this, that it's all in letters. It all comes in letters.
Right. That how letters go from one level to the other. And and this is one of the biggest secrets, actually, in the whole thing is the תבונה.
Because the letters, it says, the letters of thought originate in תבונה.
You know, so you have to say that basically the letters of speech, even though they originate in חכמה, but they come out the actual שורש has to be in the string the the the string of that that holds the whole thing together, which is like מלכות of ישראל סבא, you know? Right.
And and everything is made out of letters, so that even the letters that come out like it says that בריש בריש הורמנותא דמלכא גליף גליפו that he said to himself אנא אמלוך.
Origin of the letters אנא אמלוך 26:09
Yeah. The letters אנא אמלוך came from מלכות of תבונה.
Otherwise he wouldn't have been able to think them, and he wouldn't be able to talk them, according to what we said. Even though you say, what do you mean he wouldn't be able to?
He says, yeah, the thing that he's able to, of course he's able to, the thing that he's able to is the תבונה of the אין סוף.
Right. לתבונתו אין חקר means that he was able to come up with a תבונה on how to apply it to the outside, outside of himself. Right.
You know, and like it says in פתח אליהו in order to let people know His greatness. Right. That's the whole ענין of תבונה, to to to take from the depths and give it to the sheep, you know? Right.
And I'm going to have to stop over here. So have a good שבת, say good שבת to אמא.
